How a Home Energy Audit Works
An Energy Audit is an assessment of how much energy your home consumes, combined with suggestions on how you can make your home more energy-efficient. An audit shows you where your house is losing energy and how your insulation, heating and cooling systems, electrical systems and appliances, could be made more efficient.
A blower door uses a calibrated fan to measure how much air a home leaks. The blower door mounts into an exterior door frame. The fan pulls air out of the house, lowering the air pressure inside. Outside air then flows into the house through all unsealed cracks and openings. The amount of fan pressure required by the fan to maintain the test pressure tells the auditor how much leakage the house has.
We are a BPI Certified weatherization company and we are a registered Ameren Illinois Energy Efficiency Ally. We work with these programs to provide our customers the maximum discounts available for home energy improvements. Our home energy audits and assessments use the most scientific approach (blower door test, infrared cameras, etc.) to discover heating and cooling losses in your home. Once these weak spots are revealed, our team goes to work insulating, sealing and repairing the troublesome areas, leaving your home more energy efficient and saving you money each month on your utility bills.
